Sheana Stephen DA

Graduating from Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen in 1971, Sheana registered her hallmark at the Edinburgh Assay Office. Since graduating, she has exhibited throughout the UK and annual exhibitions of The Glasgow Society of Women Artists and Visual Arts Scotland (formerly Scottish Artists and Craftsmen) at the Royal Scottish Academy. She currently lives and works from her studio in Edinburgh.

Sheana has served as Vice-President of the Scottish Society of Women Artists, as President of the Glasgow Women Artists and as Chairman of the Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy and has received awards from both the SSWA and the GSWA. She has been commissioned to make a number of pieces over the years, including a brooch presented to Her Majesty the Queen.

Silver, gold, freshwater pearls, with both precious and semi-precious stones are my materials and canvas. Saws, files, drills and hammers are my tools. I create works of art to wear and use.

The natural world of landscape and flora, texture, legends and poetry are the main sources of my inspiration.
