Liz studied drawing and painting under Sir Robin Philipson and David Michie, graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1971. Since graduating, she worked as an Art Therapist and then a Lecturer in drawing and painting before becoming a full-time painter in 2003. She currently lives and works from her studio near Glasgow.
A regular exhibitor throughout the UK, Liz is an elected member of the Paisley Art Institute, Visual Arts Scotland, Glasgow Art Club and the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. She has received several awards over the years including the Aspect Prize and the Diploma of Paisley Art Institute.
Working predominantly in oils, mixed media and water-based mediums are also sometimes added to produce her work. Lizs compositions are based on her minds eye perspective a collection of marks which are influenced by objects, words, music, locations and events which evolve from her reaction to a particular experience at a particular time.
Its personal. In my mind I make stories, the viewer may find their own interpretation.
