Malcolm Cheape

Malcolm was born in Perth in 1964. After school in Perthshire and Edinburgh, Malcolm undertook a Foundation Course in art at Cleveland College of Art and Design in 1982. Following the completion of his foundation course, Malcolm completed a Degree in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee followed by a Post Graduate Diploma at the same college. Having lived his life in Perthshire, Malcolm has recently moved to Pittenweem, in the East Neuk of Fife.

'My primary subject matter is the contemporary and historical world of commercial, industrial, and naval shipping. This includes decommissioned fishing boats, private yachts, modern day trawlers, tall ships and battle ships.

Scotland's east and west coasts give me the backdrop from which I try to capture the grace and character of commercial water-bound vessels.
