Tommy Fitchet

Tommy is a self taught artist whose work is predominantly abstract inspired by nature, by the Scottish landscape and by the changing light of the seasons.

"I like to think of my work as organic and my originals are moulded by my surroundings and my emotions. Since childhood I have found art, especially abstract art, the most natural way to express myself and the best way to escape from the pressures of everyday life."

"I paint using many mediums but I have found that my art is most fluid and expressive when working directly onto glass. Working this way I achieve a depth of tone and colour, a freedom of expression and wielding of light."

"Whether it be the urban landscape of the city, or the shorelines and rugged landscape of Arran - when the sun suddenly comes out and shines brightly upon the sea or the landscape just for that brief moment, and you get that wonderful feeling that stays with you, that is what I am trying to capture in my paintings."

To date, Tommy has exhibited in galleries in Arran, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. His work is also in private collections around the world.
