Ronnie studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1970-1974, graduating with a BA (Hons). In 1975 he achieved a Teaching certificate from Jordanhill College of Education. For the next 28 years he taught art, 11 of these at Sha Tin College in Hong Kong. His style of sculptural painting is inspired by the countryside around his second home in France and is also influenced by his studies of eastern and western Art. He has had several sell-out exhibitions and has sold his work to clients (public, private and corporate) world wide. His work features a highly textured surface and use of contrasting colours, capturing the French and Scottish landscape in a personal and evocative way. He focuses on entrapping the spirit of these landscapes which was the goal of the Chinese masters who believed that "anyone can copy a person or a landscape but only true masters catch its spirit!".
