Sandra lives in the Southside of Glasgow with her husband and son, having previously stayed in Edinburgh for seven years. She is a Glasgow School of Art graduate with a degree in Embroidered and Woven Textiles Design. This background has influenced Sandras use of texture in her paintings, and also fuels a fascination with subject matter which is naturally textured, such as new work using studies of Trees and the rugged surfaces of rock formations in her Seascapes.
"The technique I use involves creating a textured surface with tissue paper. This is painted over with acrylic, and then oil pastel is rubbed into specific areas to reveal the contrasting areas of surface texture."
