Lara studied at Camberwell School of Art, London, graduating with Honours in Ceramics. She then came to Scotland and completed a Post Graduate course at Edinburgh College of Art. She has exhibited work extensively in the U.K and overseas and has work in public and private collections around the world.
In 1992 Lara was the Premier winner of the New Zealand Fletcher Challenge Ceramic Award (an internationally acclaimed award). This led to her visiting New Zealand to collect the Award and she also spent some time demonstrating her techniques as she toured around the country. In May 1993 she took part in an International Porcelain Workshop in Prague where she met and worked alongside some of Europe's leading Porcelain Ceramists, who she later toured with across the U.S.
Since taking timeout to start a family, Lara's work has taken a new direction that has been further developed through the generous assistance of the Scottish Arts Council, who awarded her a Creative Development Grant ... [more]
