iain brady

Iain was born in Glasgow in 1958 brought up on a farm just south of Aberdeen.  He studied painting at Grays School of Art.  After leaving art college he moved to the Isle of Lewis.  In 1982, Iain was awarded the Walter Maclaine Medal (Royal Scottish Academy) and the Robert Borough Travelling Scholarship.  He has exhibited widely and worked on many public and private commissions.

Iain’s work reflects the unique character and culture of the Outer Hebrides.  He uses a wide variety of materials and combines two and three dimensional images to create compositions that are distinctive and individual as the inspiration they derive from.

Marchall Anderson, Art Review:  “Brady’s sculptures invade the space beyond the wall inviting the viewer to explore secret corners and humorous details.  Brightly coloured, they evoke the Hebridian landscape at its most radiant.  Physical fantasy, a portrait of the artist and his wife being overwhelmed by the environment, exhibits a lightness of touch and Brady’s consummate draughtsmanship”
