vega

Vega achieved her BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art along with intensive theoretical study. During the 80s, she focused on painting women and their place in society.  At this time Vega taught in Ireland, whilst travelling to Spain and France.

 

In 1990 she went to Africa to study it’s people, culture and it’s desert plains.  Later Vega returned to Europe to teach and paint, and now lives in the Outer Hibrides where she sails and studies marine life.  She signs her paintings ‘Vega’ out of respect for her boat.  

 

Throughout her paintings, Vega aims to make her painted images evoke an experience, idea or emotion in whoever views them.  Her extensive travelling has helped her to continually look for different ways to depict and view a subject. 

“You are the arbiters.  The images will speak differently to each of you – and I will have failed as an artist if they require a written explanation to be enjoyed.”
