fiona duckett

Fiona was born in 1956 in Edinburgh and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee from 1994-98, graduating with BA (Hons) in Ceramics.  This was followed by a Post Graduate/MA course in Art and Design at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen.  

In 1997, Fiona received the Elizabeth Ballantyne Award at the SAAC Exhibition.  In the same year she was commissioned to do a ceramic series of Pods and Day Lily Photographs for the Botanical Gardens, University of Dundee. Fiona established her business, “Watergaw Ceramics” in 2000 and in 2003 she opened her pottery in Whitehills.  Fiona shows her work in throughout Scotland.


 

"During my Honours year in Dundee, I started to specialise in Reduction (In Glaze) Lustre taking the movement and reflective colour found in water as my inspiration.  This theme continued during my time at Gray’s and now forms the foundation of most of the work that I do."
