ian healy

Ian was born and raised in Cork, Republic of Ireland, later completing a BA Honours at Crawford College of Art and Design in 1992. His work has stretched over the UK to private collections in Zurich and Paris.

His work encompasses of animal studies, with horses and dogs being predominant. His aim in these portraits is to create them as if they are individuals, and imbue them with a sense of character and strength. For his horse paintings Ian focuses on their movement and grace. Spanish painting is a large influence on Ian, especially when he resided at the Centre d’Art Naura in Farrera, Catalunya. He also resided in Lithuania at the International Art Symposiium. He currently lives and works in Fife, Scotland.

‘I try not to stray away from the image as a painting, so develop work with a somewhat loose brushwork approach to convey movement through natural oil painting qualities.’
