lindsay grime

Lindsay is a Glasgow-based illustrator who graduated with first class honours from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009. She has a diverse approach to illustration and is consequently no stranger to producing outcomes as varied as sculptural cardboard illustrations, pop-up books and illustrated ceramics. Alongside commercial work for clients including Serafina Press and Scottish Borders Council, Lindsay also enjoys making personal work for exhibitions, recently presenting an installation of over 80 ceramic pieces in her first solo show 'Home Sweet Home' in Glasgow. The exhibition examined notions of domesticity and personal narratives which are anchored around the idea of home. It had a visual mix of invented portraits, visions of 1950s modernist interiors and consumer goods, with imagery drawn from antiquated advertisements and willow patterned china pastiche.

More recently, Lindsay has been drawn to a folk art aesthetic, and takes delight in depicting flora and fauna as well as figures in antiquated or carnival dress. Her work has also been exhibited in Edinburgh and Newcastle, including Total Kunst and The Biscuit Factory.
