jennifer antonio
Jennifer studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1973 with Diploma in Glass and Sculpture. Her work is primarily concerned with exploring the interaction of glass with light. She recently completed a PhD at the University of Sunderland, bases on the creative use of float glass. During this period she developed new ways of transforming this industrial material for artistic expression. The focus of Jennifer’s recent work is to produce a synthesis of glass, light and form that is informed by the interaction of translucency with clear glass. This reflects a further step in the search for a personal language in which to express her understanding of the material. Her work has been shown throughout Scotland, in Japan and in Germany when she opened a hot glass studio in Bavaria in 1989. Jennifer has since returned to the UK to do studio practice full-time.
