peter bourne rsw
Peter was born in Madras, India and obtained a Diploma in Drawing & Painting at Glasgow School of Art.
He was elected RSW in 1982 and was a Council Member from 1991-1994. He is also a Professional Member of the SAAC and served on the Council from 1992-1995.
Peter taught Art for several years going on to paint full-time in his award-winning house in Perthshire. Recently he has moved to Crieff.
He is much influenced by the ever changing landscape, by the domestic environment and wishes in his work to reflect the strong sense of design which he sees all around him. Peter’s constant variety in subject matter makes his work just that bit different. Over the years his work has developed towards the use of a richly coloured image. Edward Gage, writing about Peter’s work in The Scotsman, said that in his rich pigment and adventurous schemes his intrepid skill as a composer shines like a beacon.
He exhibits regularly in RSA, RSW, SSA, SAAC and RGI Annual Exhibitions. In addition, he has held many One-man and Group shows in Glasgow, Edinburgh and other galleries throughout Scotland and England. He is a regular exhibitor at The Strathearn Gallery in Crieff. His work is held in Private Collections at home and abroad.
