angela heidemann

Angela began her life as a linguist before moving over to Scotland from Germany in 1994. In Germany she studied an M.A. in English Literature and Linguistics, and a Dissertation on educational illustration. It was here in Scotland that she chose to become a painter and printmaker, and has worked as an artist, illustrator, teacher and educational author.

She completed two full-time painting Courses at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh, under Paul Martin. In 2007 Angela went on to study lithography at Edinburgh Printmakers, and later etching and printmaking at Dunfermline Printmakers. 

As a printmaker, Angela gives herself the freedom to draw and enjoy the whimsical qualities of her subjects. Her work is mostly figurative, with an aim to find the expressive potential and emotional truth rather than a subject literal representation.
