genna delaney
Genna graduated in 2006 with BDes (Hons) in Jewellery & Metal Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. She also has an HND and NC in Jewellery Design and has been designing and making jewellery since 1999.
Genna is passionate about designing and making jewellery and thrives to produce bespoke, superbly produced handcrafted pieces. As jewellery has a personal and sentimental value she is willing to take on commissions and can give new life to an old piece of jewellery using your own ideas.
In 2002 she won an Award from Goldsmith’s Company to pay for Wonder Cuff and in 2006 she was awarded the Precious Metal Bursary Award from the Goldsmith’s Company.
Genna also appears in the Cultural Enterprise Office brochure as a case study which was released in November 2006 and I-On Edinburgh Magazine in August 2007 and will soon be appearing in British Vogue, April 2009 Edition.
“At present Architecture is a major influence in my work which inspires both geometric forms and organic sculptures. Movement is also a prominent force where rare coloured stones can be moved along the labyrinths of my work. My pieces are tactile, playful and sculptural.”
“I enjoy working with precious metals such as silver and gold. However, I also love to incorporate non-precious materials such as plastics; glass, resins as well as stone settings. I create innovative designs by adjusting them to suit the needs of my clients, every piece is unique. I am constantly challenging the boundaries of jewellery design, producing both one off and commercial pieces. I am totally committed to designing and making jewellery and am extremely eager to get my work out there. I am also happy to take on commissions.”
